Prayers

I had a conversation with a friend this evening and it was about relationships. How much we miss it and wished things didn't happen that made it end. As we were chatting, I suddenly remembered yesterday's talk and thus inspired me to create this blog post.

Yesterday, in The Feast, Bro. Bo shared a story about a woman's prayer not being answered. This is how the story went:

She had a crush on a guy who was popular with the girls; he was handsome, had nice hair and a "hunky" body. This man was called "Mr. Hunk." He and the woman became good friends; she was so happy about it that she prayed to God that they would end up together, but in the end, the man went with another woman. She was devastated! It was as if she lost the perfect man. This devastation lasted for half a year, and she was like a zombie as Bro. Bo described it.

Imagine, losing someone you thought you could have because you prayed daily. It hurts a lot and sometimes it makes you wonder "What have I done to deserve this?" This isn't the end of Bro, Bo's story though, so I shall resume to it.

25 years later, she attended a class reunion; happy to see her old classmates and friends, and then she saw someone. Lo and behold, it was Mr. Hunk! The moment she saw him, her jaw dropped because this Mr. Hunk, turned into "Mr. Hulk." The hunky body he had, turned into a big body, while his nice hair turned into something with unidentified species. What happened to this very handsome man!? The woman overheard some of her old schoolmates gossiping about him, it turns out that he became a drug addict and had a bad marriage. So he ended up not having a so good future.

After the reunion, she went out to the parking lot, looked up at the sky with tears falling out of her eyes and said "Lord... Thank you for not answering my prayer."

Some people still believe that God will always answer our prayers but the truth is, he doesn't, especially when he knows what is best for us. We may feel bad about it at first but in the long run, we will be thankful that not all of them were answered. Right now, I am like how the woman was when Mr. Hunk went with another woman. I prayed daily that I would marry my boyfriend in the future but things didn't work out between us, so we broke up after 8 months of being together. Yes, I am hurt that we didn't last that long even though I kept praying for our relationship to grow, but this must be God's way of saying "I have someone better for you." So, for now, I will focus on finishing this course and pursue my dream in becoming a food endorser! Love life can wait.
